Will my insurance cover a part of the fee?

Generally yes,  as long as your policy is a PPO and not an HMO.  DR. Trammell is by his own choice not on any insurance company contracts, however, most insurance companies have an “out of network provision.”  Several times, they may pay somewhere between 50% -70% depending on the policy your company purchased for you. Our office will attempt to find out the details if you want to work with us.

Are You a Preferred Provider?

No.  This is only an insurance business language term. It has nothing to do with the quality of counseling service.  We choose not to sign contracts with insurance companies. Our practice is totally independent and no insurance company sends us business.

Do you accept my insurance plan? It is a PPO.

Generally, yes, because PPO’s or POS  will usually pay some reduced portion of your fee. Insurance companies are large and may have a front line employee trying to read the right answer on the right page to their policy holders. If you want to work with us, our office has to call them to get a more detailed answer for you. At times we have received conflicting information.  We will do our best to get you an answer of approximately what they will reimburse.

Do you accept my insurance plan? It is an HMO.

No,  an  HMO policy will not allow you to chose your own Doctor. You will have to go into your insurance network in order to get payment for your counseling.

However,  you may pay out of your own pocket and come to see us.   Also, see above answers.

Will you file my insurance for me?

Yes, as long as you are an ongoing patient.

Do you charge for Missed appointments?

Yes,  We have a 24 hour cancellation policy.  As long as you cancel within 24 clock hours ahead of your appointment time there is no charge.  When we put you name down for an appointment time the appointment  is considered confirmed.  If you  do not show up for your appointment  you are responsible for payment of that session.   Insurance companies do not pay for missed appointments.   Many times, we have a list of people who are waiting to get in.   If you do not show up,  there is no time to notify someone who is waiting  that could take your appointment time.

Do you take Credit Cards?

No, we take cash or check at the time of the appointment.

How long are the sessions?

The first session is 1 hour.  The other sessions are 45 minutes for individual sessions.
However, if the session is for couple counseling the sessions will need to be 1 hour .

Can I have longer sessions?    I am from out of town.

If you are from out of town we can set up 2 to 3 sessions back to back in order to cover the issues.  We have had a few people who have scheduled half a day then break for lunch, then back to cover 1 or 2 more sessions.

How many visits does it take?  How often do I come ?

The length of time for your counseling is an individual process.  It depends on the severity of your problems.    DR. Trammell will customize strategies for your particular situation.   If the habit you are trying to break is a  newly acquired habit, counseling  may take only a few visits. However, counseling usually takes longer in order to change older habits into a new  life style.  As in all counseling, success depends on your  ability and willingness to do the work necessary for the  change  you want in your life and in that of your family.

What is the Difference between a psychologist and a counselor?

Psychologists have to have a Doctor’s degree from an accredited university, approved internships, and pass a national examination at the doctoral level.  Counselors generally have to have master’s degrees and pass master’s level examinations.  See Types of Counselors
